Best Ideas For The Perfect Date
Anticipating a first date can be one of the most agonizing events of your week. Every single decision you make feels as if you are deciding if the belt is blue or black. From what you wear to what you decide to eat at the restaurant can make a statement about who you are as an individual. You don’t want to dress in your favorite stilettos and that little black dress because then you care too much. However, if you throw on a Cubs tee and a pair of jeans you are immediately thrown into the friend zone.
This is honestly ridiculous. Meeting someone new should always come down to fundamental values and interests. When guys plan dates they attempt to do “the right thing” or what their date “wants”, but honestly they are usually wrong. Men are either overly cutesy or just expect that their favorite hobby will be ours as soon as we give it a try. Let’s take look at the most typical offenders.
The Bar Date
The bar date is good in theory. A guy will pick you up and say the typical line, “Oh, Let’s go get a drink”. Sounds like a great idea. Nothing loosens people up more than a little liquid courage. This goes wrong very quickly, however, as you being to be overwhelmed by the beer stench and the men whose voices get louder and louder as they sip after sip. Someone always ends up getting a little tipsier than the other. Before you know it, there’s a drink on your brand new dress and all you want to do is go home to your bath tub. So guys stop bringing your dates to over-priced swanky bars with lighting so dim that you can barely see the person you’re with.
The Restaurant Date
Bringing a girl to a nice restaurant is the most typical move that guys make. They pull up in their leased luxury car and carry you away to a night on the town. It starts out fun. I mean who doesn’t eat food? It is the ultimate commonality amongst all people. However, there are several problems that most girls run into on these stereotypical encounters. Who orders? You don’t want to be rude if your date tries to select your meal or what wine you will have, but at the same time I can order for myself. This is not the 1920s where I am too busy powdering my nose to learn how to read a menu. Ordering is hard, though. What you select says a lot about who you are. If you select a salad, you are saying to your date “I try really hard to be skinny”. If you order a greasy burger than you are saying “I plan to have a heart attack and die before age 60.” Neither of these options is desirable.
The Perfect Date
The perfect date is a one in a million. It is so rare that after most first dates you go on feeling as if there is no hope for the population with a Y chromosome. Hello men, it really is not as difficult as it seems to make a great first impression. It’s usually a lot cheaper too. Unless it’s a blind date, he’s probably conversed with his lady in waiting beforehand. He has a general understanding for her hobbies, musical tastes, favorite sports teams, etc. The perfect way to start things off on the right foot is to listen to her. Take her to see her favorite band perform at a local venue. Buy her tickets to see the football team she grew up watching with her dad. This sets the tone for a good relationship to come and allows both of you to bond over something that isn’t food or alcohol.
