Commonly our body has three types of fats, which are triglycerides, subcutaneous fat, and visceral fat. Among these, triglycerides will be present in the blood. Subcutaneous fat is the layer of fat deposition that is present in the bottom of the skin. Visceral fat will be present inside the abdominal cavity and stick to the surface of the intestines. Excess levels of the visceral fat present in the abdominal area is what we call as the fat belly.

Reality: It differs from person to person, depending upon their body condition. Some people will not get fat by eating more. The reason could be their genes and heredity. Some people will eat less but still have a fat belly. These people could have a family line of fat people or it could be their hereditary problem. They can undergo regular exercise, consume healthy foods and some lifestyle changes to reduce their weight and belly fat.

Belief: Fat belly can lead to heart diseases and even death.

Reality: Excess fat is always a danger. It’s not possible to maintain a healthy weight by having a fat belly. Additionally, fat is the root cause for many varieties of diseases. Bad fat or cholesterol will not only destroy the body’s health but also develops blocks in the arteries.

Belief: Exercise will reduce belly fat.

Reality: It is true. But having deep fried foods after a long walk, improper exercise, consuming a sports drink in-between workout session can stop the fat burning process. This makes it harder to keep the body weight in control.

Ways to reduce fat belly

Food: Egg, almond, oats, yogurt, milk, broccoli, green vegetables, fish, meat, greens, sprouts, lentils, pulses, beans and consuming foods rich in protein will help a lot.
