You won’t feel so good when the first signs of wrinkles start to appear on your skin. Wrinkles appear with age, and unfortunately, there is no way you can prevent yourself from aging, it is a natural process that is bound to happen. Factors like genetic makeup, heredity, and lifestyle determine the pace of aging. Your skin’s firmness is regulated by elastin and collagen present in its layers. Collagen determines your skin’s strength and elastin as its name suggests, it determines the elastic property of your skin. When these two gets destroyed due to aging, your skin starts to shirk down leading to wrinkles. Though you cannot completely avoid this outcome, you can, however, slow down aging, get rid of under eye wrinkles, and delay this whole process by following the simple ways listed below.
1 Avoid Exposure to Direct Sunlight
Perhaps the most important factor that accelerates your aging process is direct exposure to hot sun. Though sunlight is good for your health and plays a vital role in the production of Vitamin-D, you do not need direct exposure to the hot sun for it. Always wear sunblock whenever you move outdoors, always wear dark sunglasses. The skin around your eyes is thin and are more vulnerable to wrinkles, which is the main reason why most people start to have wrinkles around their eyes first followed by other areas of the face.
2 Have a healthy diet
The food you eat has a direct impact on your skin. Deep fried, fat-rich, and oily foods will lead to premature aging and speed up the appearance of wrinkles. Dermatologists recommend eating seasonal fruits, vegetables, and fruits that are yellow, red, orange, and purple in color as they are scientifically proven to be good for your skin. Additionally, try to consume foods that are rich in omega 3 fatty acids like tuna, salmon, flaxseeds etc… as they keep your skin soft and supple.
3 Avoid Dehydration
When you are not properly hydrated your skin is bound to get dry. Dry skin will easily get wrinkled. So you need to keep yourself properly hydrated. Drink at least 3 liters of water every day. If you find drinking plain water is kind of boring, then you can add a little bit of lemon extract to it. Lime juice contains Vitamin-C which reduces inflammation in the skin and keeps it healthy. You can also drink tender coconut, buttermilk, and fresh citrus fruit juices every day (without sugar).
4 Give up smoking and drinking
Both alcohol and smoking promotes premature aging and makes your skin dry and unhealthy to look at. Additionally, they can increase the toxin levels in your body which again will accelerate the pace at which wrinkles can appear on your skin. If you have these habits you better quit as soon as possible.
5 Exercise Every day
Spending most part of your day in the seated position is one of the worst things you can do for your body. Remain active as much as possible. If your work demands you to remain seated then take 10 to 15-minute breaks every couple of hours to stretch yourself. When you remain physically inactive it can have a disastrous effect on your body and skin. You are bound to have wrinkles prematurely doing so. So make it your lifestyle to exercise 45 to 60 minutes every day, if possible involve yourself in a sport.
6 Destress Yourself
Stress plays a major role in premature aging. When you get stressed you are bound to spoil your sleep, eating habits, and your daily routine. Stress not only damages your mental wellbeing, it has its direct impact on your physical health as well. So if you feel stressed for some reason find ways to destress yourself like watching a humorous movie, walking in a park, listening to music, having a fun chat with your beloved, going for a little picnic etc… Stressed people age faster and will have wrinkles very soon in their life.
7 Keep your Collagen intact
Like mentioned earlier, it is collagen that makes your skin to look young and wrinkle-free. As you age collagen levels in your skin is bound to diminish. So you can try to minimize this damage by using collagen cream and right diet. You need collagen supply to your skin both externally and internally. Collagen cream will fulfill the external need while having a healthy diet will fulfill the internal need. Include green vegetables, egg whites, cheese, fish, beans, and citrus fruits in your daily diet.
8 Get Enough Sleep
Sleep rejuvenates your skin and makes it look fresh, this is the reason why you feel better after a refreshing sleep. Sleep deprivation, on the other hand, has the opposite effect on your skin. So, get a good amount of sleep every single night to keep the wrinkles at bay. People with constant sleep deprivation tend to develop wrinkles on their forehead. Doctors recommend sleeping at least 7 to 8 hours every single night. So don’t keep yourself up at night.
9 Don’t get harsh on your skin
Try to stay away from low quality and cheap skin products which can end up damaging your skin. Always use products from a well-recognized brand which are gentle on your skin. Never try to get hard on your skin by handling it in a harsh way like rubbing it hard with a tissue or towel after a face wash. If you applied makeup for a party or function make sure to get it removed before going to sleep. Makeup will clog your skin pores and restrict your skin from breathing in air. When your skin is deprived of air it will age faster.
10 Take that extra care for your skin
When you show more interest in your skin and take that extra care it deserves, you will surely start to see better results. Always keep your skin moisturized, get a refreshing facial once a month, make use of right face wash for your skin type, use face wash for your face (never use soaps for face), all these extra care and attention you give to your skin will keep the wrinkles at bay and make you feel younger, both mentally and physically.
